Metropole Studio Sessions: World Tour - Cuba (highlights)

4 videos • 949 views • by Metropole Orkest The lockdown did not prevent Metropole Orkest from going on a world tour in March 2021. Not literally, of course, but in their own studio in Hilversum with Netherlands based musicians. First destination was Brazil, second destination Cuba. Together with singer Yma América, pianist Rámon Valle, singer Nando Vanin and saxophonist Felipe Castro, assisted by percussionists Juan Villoria (congas) and Marco Toro (bongos) and conducted by Jochen Neuffer, the orchestra toured through the Metropole archives to pick the most exciting Cuban music. Compositions by people like Armando Romeu, Ernesto Duarte, Miguel Matamoros, Paquito D’Rivera, Israel ‘Cachao’ López en Amador Pérez Torres. Metropole Studio Sessions: World Tour - Cuba was a collaboration with NPO Radio 2 Soul & Jazz. Highlights from the concert on Friday 26 March 2021 have now been released on Spotify and other music services: https://open.spotify.com/album/34ZBRA...
