I knew I was in trouble when my supposedly educated Mind support worker kept repeatedly saying "neurodetergent" instead of neurodivergent! 🤦🏻‍

Every time I mention this to someone who doesn’t know I always make sure to explain it to them the proper way and this vid will def help more

THANK YOU 👏 It bothers me so much when people refer to an individual as neurodiverse. A population can be diverse, an individual (by definition) can't be. But in contexts where I'm masking I don't always feel able to point this out

Thank you. I always took it as a sign of human evolution, not just the varience but the brain thinky power to understand and develop our reality

This video reasssured my thought/idea that if neurotypical dominance did not exist, neurodivergents would have thrived naturally, and we all could have lived in synchrony all along, accepting and loving each other as part of the whole, thriving as a human race... I'm keeping hope alive by being part of the solution. I am a 48 yearold woman, recently diagnosed ADHDer & MDDer [4 months ago. I am committed to doing my part in creating awareness of this. Your courage to choose to be vulnerable and share here to create awareness gives us courage as well. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR SETTING AN EXAMPLE FOR US!!! 📖✝️🩸🛐🤲❤️🧠

I've never heard anyone misuse it. But that's because I have only heard it used in the online neurodivergent community or with my therapist. Great explanation!

While I agree with some parts of the neurodiversity movement. Some fringe parts of the movement are problematic. Like saying that autism is not a disability. It is fine if they day that autism is not a disability for them. But for many people autism is a disability.

We should reunite and build a neurodivergent world

I find that the majority of people don’t really work the same, some of them have an inner monologue and can't imagine anything graphical or 3d, others is the other way around. Some just know the answer to a math formula and I have to draw a sheet of paper in my mind that I write on to calculate so I'm a bit slow :)

Great video Ella. For some reason, i am unable to like or dislike videos on YouTube today. It's rather odd.

Entirely diverse but not entirely defunct

I think neurotypical is a type that is within the neurodiversity theory. I also think the theory accidentally supports the idea that "everyone is a little autistic" which no one likes but I think it makes sense because Ive met so many different kinds of people that seem to have varying levels of certain autistic traits some so low that they would be considered neurotypical and some just tipping over into what would be considered neurodivergent. I think the spectrum theory supports this as well. If you look at a diagram of the autistic spectrum it ranges from neurotypical to high support needs autistic.

It's not a condition. It's normal.

a very good video, but I think most people are neurodivergent and not neurotypical. over half of all people will be mentally ill at some point in their lives and so if mental illness is neurodivergence than most people will be divergent at some point.

what gives me pause here, as someone with a “non-dominant” neurotype according to this video, is the idea that there is a group of “neuro-normative” people that society was built for. I don’t think society is/was built for any of us (well except the ultra-rich lol). We are constantly being exploited by it. So when I think about who or what that “neuro-normative” type, the person set up to prosper in society, is - is that even a real thing?

I'm little confused, 'cause on diagram I don't see OCD, depression or anxiety... 🤔 Is it neuronormative then? I don't know, why
