Never forgotten when I was 18 and ended up in the hospital. My momās manager told her he needed absolutely no other info and to not think about contacting him again until I was dischargedā¦ it was over a week before she came back and the man never asked a single question because he trusted her and wanted her to be able to focus on what was important. At the time I thought it was a little rude he never asked how I was, but looking back, his respect for our privacy was something else.

Love seeing responses like this. That person is less of a boss and more of a leader, someone I'm sure has more positive rapport than negative with their employees.
Treat your colleagues with empathy and dignity, and you'll garner a healthy workforce that'll gladly stand alongside and follow you.

My workplace used to be next to the maternity hospital. I went there for checkups with every pregnancy. Once I came back from the checkup I was told that unfortunately there was no heartbeat. When I came back to work I was of course devastated. When the boss heard what happened, she just shrugged her shouldersš¤·āāļø
My former boss, who in the meantime had become the head of the department, asked me why I am stillat work. Told me to go home and take care of my health. He was the best boss. šā¤ļø

In my early 20s I was having issues with my period, called the doctor on a work break and she told me it sounded like I was pregnant even though I was on birth control. I went back to work but the tears just started coming so I went to talk to my boss who immediately drove me to the drugstore, she said I was too upset to drive. I bought a pregnancy test which was thankfully negative. My boss really showed compassion that day.

Makes me think of my vets office. The main assistant had a stroke, not only have other stepped up to make sure the position can remain open when he recovers, they posted a donation link in the window so anyone who walks past or goes in can donate directly to him to help with his expenses. And one of the other workers stops by his house a couple times a week after work to drop off cards, cash, and snacks for him! The whole business, and us who take our pets to the small practice, have all been helping any way we can. Knowing the vet who owns the practice cares so much about his employees makes me love the place even more.

This makes me so happy to hear. After watching toxic boss after toxic boss. Iāve only ever dealt with toxic bosses myself and Iāve never understood it. I feel like if you treated your employees well it would make them want to perform even better for the business. Ego and greed are horrible things

To me, as an employer, you have the choice of sending someone to deal with something like this, or not releasing them and dealing with someone who's not only distracted and upset, but who is now going to carry a huge grudge towards you. Forget what the right thing to do, from a business aspect, it's stupid not to let them go.

That isnt a boss thats a leader. A leader that just gained massive respect from their employee. They just earned a very loyal worker.
