If you want to give your vocals that professional touch, try this parallel compression technique. It adds texture and thickness without overwhelming brightness.

Here’s how:

Send the vocal to a bus.

Apply compression with a fast attack and medium release, aiming for 5-10dB of gain reduction.

Use a low-cut EQ around 1kHz and boost with a bell curve at 12kHz.

Blend the processed vocal with the main vocal for a polished finished.

Parallel compression can be huge, brother. Definitely appreciate the reminder

Put the EQ first, then the compression. There is no reason for the compressor to work harder and for frequencies to compete for bandwidth if some of them are going to be cut anyway. Just put another EQ after, once you're done shaping the transients, so that you could finish polishing the sound you need.

Multipass by Kilohearts, set the high band to taste, than use the Distortion plugin on that band. If it starts sounding harsh or piercing use the spread knob or add the Transient shaper on that band. Cheers.

Nice, could also use a multiband exciter and solo the high band, i use ozone exciter and toggle between different saruration modes to suite vocal and track

parallel EVERYTHING

you forgot to mention the importance of the linear phase (a lot of people will miss that detail and have no idea how parallel processing can affect phase)

Just be aware of the phase rotation around the corner frequency of the high pass. It won't necessarily be an issue, but it might be if you are just following a YouTube short and not really listening to your own mix

Interesting that this is preferred over using a multiband compressor. This sounds very natural and the fact it's in parallel is helpful for mixdown purposes

If you put the eq before the compressor you will not have low frequency processed by the compressor, like sidechain-filtering. This lets you avoid phase issues that are commonly created by using fast attacks on compressors that work on elements with low end. Tipically you should use an attack that is greater than the first cycle of the fundamental frequency of the sound.
