Space marines in normal situations are essentially the equivalent of allowing a guy like Guts to dress fancy and attend a boardroom meeting where theyre expected to smile.

Edit: you guys do remember that as of right now in lore he doesn't need the armor right? Like he specifically trained his ability to survive without it so the eldar wouldn't have leverage over hm, because part of the eldar's plan when bringing him back was to leverage the armor and his reliance of it, right?

Also, in the novel Apocalypse there are Imperial Fists, Raven Guard and White Scars at a similar banquet. The Fists and Raven Guard officers get on with the people well enough, but the White Scars captain keeps scaring them by quietly saying "boo" 🤣

I love how this was the Sons of Dorn. I can totally see the sons of Lion fitting in in the elegance of the court, or the sons of the Angel being perfect dancers, or the sons of Ultramar being perfectly suited to carry a fancy conversation with fancier people. Hell, I could even picture the Space Wolves enjoying the banquet, and the White Scars enjoying the music. But the Sons of Dorn? "This is absolutely unnecessary and a waste of our time. Let us be done with it asap and return to our duties."
The only ones I imagine fitting even less or being even more uncomfortable are the Iron Hands, hah

Black templars sat through a feast and never touched their plates. The governor asked if the food wasnt to their liking and the templars told them that it was a nice gesture but the food would not be enough so they settled for their nutrient paste that could actually feed a space marine
