Minimalism. It's not a bad word. Downsizing is freedom - freedom from clutter, cleaning, and the ties that hold you back from living a better life. See how it meant pure freedom for our "Second Half of Life!"

Good point that kids may not want all of that stuff and it may be a burden to them. Both of my parents have passed and my sister and I had no idea what to do with much of their stuff and it created a good amount of stress during a difficult time for the family.

We are in the throes of doing just that - and for those things I’m having difficulty parting with, I’m taking photographs of them (so I ‘have’ them still, at least in my mind’s eye!) and taking the time to be with how I feel about it. The thought of my children having to travel across the World to deal with our ‘stuff’ at some point is just awful. I remember losing my parents not so long ago and literally throwing away so many things that even the Charity stores didn’t want. That was very sad. I agree about how freeing it is and am enjoying shedding the burden of ‘stuff’!

Yep, well said. Except books of course, can you have too many books?

I agree with not getting more stuff, so I’ve become very thoughtful about purchases. My kids definitely don’t want our stuff. I’m slowly getting rid of things for a future retirement.

I want experiences not stuff and clutter. It’s so much easier to stay organized, find items and keep a clean and tidy home when you have less stuff.

So you're saying if I give you my stuff you're not going to accept it? 😁 Minimalism is a much better approach. Once you get to that point you realize too much stuff is a burden like you said
