Here’s the bank I use, you can get $25 when you sign up! www.sofi.com/invite/money?gcp=1df06e88-9fa0-4296-a… (Note I’m using an affiliate link but this is not sponsored)

Great advice Shelby! I just placed my savings in a high yield savings account as well. I placed my home down payment money as well as emergency fund money and i get a good chunk every month. However, for those of you that have student loans, keep in mind that SoFi is the bank suing the department of education to end forbearance. They make a fuck ton of money off of loans. Just something to think about when you're choosing which high yield savings account to go with.

Just be careful. Sometimes it’s too good of a deal. In my country these banks/credit unions offer high interest and a lot of people lost money when they go bankrupt.

Just remember you have to pay taxes on the interest payments you receive!

Been using them for a year. Sofi also gives you your paycheck 2 days before paydate if you have a job

4.65% through Robinhood. FDIC insured up to 1.5 million. Don’t use SOFI.

Caleb from financial audit swears by SoFi too, just haven't had the time to do more research on it

American Express has 3.9% and Marcus by Goldman Sachs is 4.15%. Capital One has a respectable 3.75% and they all are free with no minimum requirements. Banks should be working for you not the other way around. 💪

I moved my emergency money that was in my credit union, giving me basically 0% to Apple bank, which is giving me 4.15%. Yeah, if I'm parking 6 months worth of expenses in a bank account, I should at least get something for it!

I did the same thing with almost the same amount. I switched to an online high yield with a 4.65% now I get an extra 100+ a month for them to hold my money. 🙏

You can buy 4 week (or longer) Treasury bills. Minimum 100 USD purchase. Currently paying 5.4% (The yield will most likely go down (a lot) as we are about to enter and are in a recession.) $30,000 @ 4.2% = $105; $30,000 @ 5.4% = $135; $135 - $105 =$30 a month less (or 28.6% more over $105). I don't know about SoFi. Just so you know. If you put money in a random bank, it's not your money anymore. You've loaned money to the bank. The bank has an obligation to pay you back your money when you ask for it. But it's not your money anymore.

I had SoFi. Loved most of it but switched back to Chase after they wouldn't let me do simple wire transactions. Super annoying.

Shelby, where do you get your topics and more importantly find the money saving info. I'm glad the U.S. have these banks. We don't have banks that give you any interest, only bills? You find some great topics and sources. You're bloody marvellous. Ever thought of compiling a book of wonderful tips and savings from your #Youtube videos?

In Canada Wealthsimple has an interest rate like this, for now at least.

They might reduce the interest after getting enough customers.
