I saw your shorts, and I kinda liked the ritual you prepare it. I was a heavy drinker, and I needed some change so I ordered a bombilla and gourd and tasted Taragüi. I followed your instructions step by step, not gonna lie, at first it was overwhelming and I couldnt drink it the traditional way, but by adding less mate I slowly got used to its taste and grew to like it. Preparing yerba mate has the same effect as opening a can of beer used to, so its a good way to replace bad habits.

Given the fine nature of Uruguayan mate, this method or variants (known in Spanish as “dar vuelta el mate” or turning the mate) is necessary to use all the dry Yerba. One of my favorite things about Uruguayan mate. Plus, with the technique of “ensillar el mate” this mate can last a VERY long time.
