So the fork we talked about was made out of steel and a steel fork does not have suspension So it was common on all the prior generations that there would be a shock in the front end And by having that shock it increased the weight a little bit of complexity on the dual sport style bikes And Trek has removed that front shock and added those fatter tires to pick up the compliance and the comfort on how this bike rides Now of course on more jarring or really big bumps this is not going to perform as well as the prior generation But on anything else it should be able to add quite a bit more ride quality lighten the bike up and certainly increase its quickness on a paved road and smooth to semi rough roads
