Included in the Ulster Cycle is 'The Death of Cu Chulainn,' where the Morrigan plays a significant role. Before his final battle, the Morrigan attempts to keep him from fighting by breaking his chariot, which he perceives as a challenge or ill omen. On the morning of the battle, his horse, the Grey of Macha, refuses to be harnessed and cries tears of blood, foretelling his death. In some versions, Cu Chulainn sees Badb washing his bloody battle gear, an omen of his impending doom.

What is Paganism? A religion, a spirituality, an alternative belief system, nature worship? You can find support for all these definitions (and many more) in dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks of religion, but subscribe to any one of these and the truth will evade you. Above all Paganism is a creative pursuit, an encounter with reality, an exploration of meaning and an expression of the soul. Druids, Heathens, Wiccans and others, all contribute their insights and literary riches to the Pagan tradition. Moon Books Publishing invites you to begin or to deepen your own encounter, right here, right now.
