Honestly this kind of excessive markup is why my love of thrifting almost died. Pickers, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, all those shows ruined the hobby my grandpa, dad, and I all loved because people basically started "flipping" out of speculation rather than just the enjoyment of finding some cool old thing.
Same thing happened with retro games and now copies of common games are upwards of 20 and 30 bucks for something that was worth 5 bucks on a good day.
These stores pop up and the prices are so excessive, thrifters don't want to pay the prices (we'd rather just buy things new!), collectors don't want the stuff because it's either super common and overpriced, etc etc... they end up going out of business after a few months and all that crap goes in a skip and to the landfill.

Yup. Everything said here is true. When I started I was buying anything that had a green number attached to it.
Not knowing about seasons, price fluctuations, and probably most important of all. Supply and demand. Which in Ebay terms is translated to current listings as opposed to sold listings.
The ratio of sold listings to current listings will prevent hoarding. Work smarter not harder.
Of course there’s exceptions to the rules but that’s another topic.

Remember when you were poor and could get that awesome feeling finding a good deal on something used you could never afford? Never again because these upper middle class resellers need money to buy more Chinese crap with a name brand on it.
