Remember when you were poor and could get that awesome feeling finding a good deal on something used you could never afford? Never again because these upper middle class resellers need money to buy more Chinese crap with a name brand on it.

The reseller end is near. Saw an older couple using google lens to price stuff at an estate sale.

How about just buying the stuff you need but can’t afford elsewhere? Ya know, like how thrift shops were meant to be used

It sucks for poor people that you resellers have ruined the point of thrift stores. They where a place to get nice used clothes for a affordable price. Now everything is priced for resellers.

Resellers are funny cause they dont know jack about what they’re trying to flip. They pass up nice things all the time. I bought a very nice turntable valued at $3-400 for $15 with enough time to pass it the first time cause i didnt think i needed it. Used to find nice film cameras too.

I hate them so much. Like goodwill Is for ppl who can't afford regular price clothes. Also how they tax shoes for regular price blows my mind. Xl button ups are hard to find already

Resellers: if I can't make 1000 percent profit I'm not buying it...

This is how my mother was, but even worse! She once had me pick up used pool chairs. She was insistent that she could make money selling anything that was free. Our garage was useless because it was full of worthless crap!

Honestly this kind of excessive markup is why my love of thrifting almost died. Pickers, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, all those shows ruined the hobby my grandpa, dad, and I all loved because people basically started "flipping" out of speculation rather than just the enjoyment of finding some cool old thing. Same thing happened with retro games and now copies of common games are upwards of 20 and 30 bucks for something that was worth 5 bucks on a good day. These stores pop up and the prices are so excessive, thrifters don't want to pay the prices (we'd rather just buy things new!), collectors don't want the stuff because it's either super common and overpriced, etc etc... they end up going out of business after a few months and all that crap goes in a skip and to the landfill.

100%! Hard lessons to learn. I’ve made all of these mistakes. Fortunately I’m cheap so my mistakes aren’t very costly.

Yup. Everything said here is true. When I started I was buying anything that had a green number attached to it. Not knowing about seasons, price fluctuations, and probably most important of all. Supply and demand. Which in Ebay terms is translated to current listings as opposed to sold listings. The ratio of sold listings to current listings will prevent hoarding. Work smarter not harder. Of course there’s exceptions to the rules but that’s another topic.

Honestly goodwill has a list of things that they tell their employees to pull of brand name and higher value items so there really isn’t anything worthwhile being put on the floor for anyone anymore anyway.

I buy vintage board games all the time that are taped and have all of the pieces. People took good care of their stuff.

Good message. I’m way too cheap to buy something I don’t KNOW is a super fast seller and worth double minimum. Obviously new sellers don’t know how to research on the spot yet so the more videos they see like this the better.

Buying board games at a thrift store is a big gamble.
