Thank you for raising awareness for this issue. As a teenager, I thought I was truly just a messed up person. It’s so comforting to know you’re not alone.

Intrusive thoughts can be normal. If they don't bother you or you don't experience them frequently, then there is nothing to worry about. If you have them frequently and they bother you to the point of rumination, that is a problem and I would recommend seeing a therapist or talk to another mental health professional, to help you manage the thoughts and anxiety. No matter how severe the thoughts are, they are just thoughts. Having these thoughts does not make you bad, dangerous, or strange. By definition, intrusive thoughts are unwanted, and not thought by choice. Wikipedia, Healthline, Verywellmind, and Harvard have good pages about intrusive thoughts if you want to learn more. Just wanted to leave this comment since I'm seeing some people getting confused by this video.

There's a difference between impulsive thoughts and intrusive thoughts, you explained the latter perfectly. Well done!😊

Just remember intrusive thoughts don’t mean anything they don’t define you as a person, but believing them makes it worse so try your best to not think about them and I know it feels impossible but your not alone God is leading you every step of the way I’m also here too and so are many others . Have a wonderful day ❤

I just wanted to say thank you because I have OCD, ADHD and bad anxiety and that makes this a lot worse because I overthink literally everything but this helped me so much to realize I’m not alone and that I’m just a regular person that overthinks and doesn’t realize that my intrusive thoughts are fake and that everyone gets them. Everyone else that also deals with this I know it is hard but remember you are not alone and many people also feels this way. God is always there for you. 🙏🙏

Thank you so much for mentioning them and talking about it. Intrusive thought patterns/ images can be particularly distressing when you’re the perpetrator in them. With the amount of shame that is associated with it, its not discussed a lot. Especially if its some of the ones you mentioned (I’m thinking of one particular one), so its hard to use the “don’t suppress just accept it” advice.

This is made perfection with the flinch. I have PTSD, MDD, anxiety, and 90% of the symptoms you mentioned in ADHD vids. I have considered seeking diagnosis but I have a rotating list of anxious what ifs that have prevented me from doing so... Like, what if I am making it up in my head. What if medication worsens symptoms. What if no one believes me. How do I tell my family (thought of doing so invites instant nausea). thank you for being you
