X-Wing was the very first tabletop miniatures game I ever got into around 10 years ago now. I've been collecting ever since and its had a huge impact on my hobby life and passion for game design. This short is how I found out about the announcement and my heart sunk.
RIP X-Wing, one of the best tabletop game systems I've ever played. AMG was truly undeserving of the game and unsurprisingly ran it into the dirt in record time.

if only star wars armada wasnt so damn expensive just for 1 ship even before the "pandemic" the pricing prevented this game from a lot of star wars fans that were actually interested in the game and after disney taking over and throwing out the EU and not allowing any of it to be used im surprised they lasted as long as it did.

The game will continue. Just because they don't make new models or update rules you can still play with your collection indefinitely. Print new cards, print new ships, the models and rulesets aren't just disappearing.
I hate when companies discontinued supporting games and the fans act like they are going to come to your house and reposses your models and rulebooks.

The real shock for me here was learning that these games weren't dead already. X-Wing felt like the most popular game in the GTA for quite a while, but I hadn't heard a single peep about it in years. I assumed it was already 6 feet in the ground.

The Fantasy Flight Star Wars RPG is one of my favourite games of all time, and even though they haven't put out a new book in ages, I'm not super torn up about it. They got the one sourcebook per Career out, plus a handful of other sourcebooks and modules. It really does feel like a finished game, rather than a dead game. I've got just about all the books and I'll keep them forever because the game is just that good.

I had this on my bingo card for the past four years. They didn't seem to move at all, and the X-Wing edition scheme change totally missed the point and was genuinely a cash grab in a world where everything is just called a cash grab. That being said, the ships don't sell much because everybody who wanted them already bought them. I have a $1000 worth of ships carefully stacked with bubble wrap inside a single Armada core box. If I try to get anymore something might break because it won't all fit.

I stopped playing X-Wing right before the pandemic and never picked it back up. I have been eyeballing getting into Armada, but if anything I may be able to find some second hand lots now for use with GDF: Warfleets. The Star Wars aesthetics have something going for them.
