It is easier to scam someone than to convince someone theyā€™re being scammed

Had a chiropractor tell me when I was 15 ā€œa pediatrician would have just said you have scoliosisā€ - I literally did have scoliosis

"The chiropractor taught me exercises so that I don't have to go to him"- my Dad. It's really a temporary relief.

The sad part is my insurance will reimburse chiropractic care easily but need to get authorization for physical therapy and it means more out of pocket costs for me šŸ˜…

Those studies also mention that the few chiropractic practices that have noticeable positive benefits are not only closer to physical therapy; but are also almost always done in tandem with exercises and stretches that are similar to the musculoskeletal exercises that a physical therapist would likely have you do had you gone to them in the first place.

This is the best short summary of everything you need to know about chiropractors I've ever come across.

My chiropractor was also a physical therapist. I had head toe pain 24/7 for 8 years I couldnā€™t walk, use my arms or lay down. After the first session I was almost pain free after the 2nd session no more pain. Itā€™s been 5 years now pain free.

I'm a radiorapher. 2 of my young patients (siblings) who have moderate-severe scoliosis went to this popular chiro in my area for 4 times a week for 1 year, with a promise that their spine will be "fixed". They came back for xray after 6months - no change with the curvature. I advised them to better see an orthopedic, they did not. Came back again after 1 year ff up - still, no change.

I suspect the reason it's so prevalent is that chiropractic care is more accessible.

I had real neck pain, severe at times for years. After several chiropractic sessions, it went away completely. Iā€™ve been pain free for years. Now, the guy did tell me to stop turning my head whisk into crack my neck, something I had been doing a lot for years. So for whatever is worth, I appreciate them.

I once asked an old school buddy who became a physiotherapist if chiropracty was a scam. He told me 'Listen, if you go to a chiropractor once and they fix your problem then that's great. But if you have to keep going back to them regularly for treatment they are f'ing you up.'

I wish I knew this earlier, I went the chiropractor for a long time and they took X-rays and everything, they failed to mention I had scoliosis and that chiropractics wouldnā€™t help that.

One of my friends was ā€œadjustedā€ by a chiro and immediately felt severe pain, turns out that while cracking her back he tore cartilage in her chest by her sternum and she had to be on almost 100% rest for weeks

I know theyā€™re not real doctors but they did help my mom a lot when she threw her back out (I think thatā€™s the saying). One day about 8 years ago she sat down and couldnā€™t get up after, could barely move her back or neck. My dad had to support her as she walked. Sheā€™d always had lower back problems but it was never really this bad, so my dad took her to the chiropractor to see if they could fix her. She was there for an hour or two, I canā€™t remember exactly, but she came out perfectly fine as if nothing had even happened. No recovery time was needed beyond that. Compare that to a more recent event where she laid down on the couch and her back seized up, the first time this happened since the previous event, and we couldnā€™t get her anywhere appointment until 3 days later. The pain didnā€™t go away that whole time, and she had to stay in her room because walking down the stairs was too painful. However, once we got her an appointment and she went, she felt immediately so much better when she got back, and she could walk without my dadā€™s support. A couple hours of sleep later, she was good as new and could hold my baby brother again. Chiropractors may not be real doctors, but Iā€™m really grateful for how they helped my mom.

Iā€™ve only ever gone to a physiotherapist ands have never needed to go to a chiropractor. I was told growing up that they could accidentally kill you by snapping your neck the wrong way.
