Don't Tell the Cops About Your Prescriptions 💊👮‍♂️ #LawyerReacts #KnowYourRights

LEGALLY prescribed medication? Don't tell the cops about it.

When you get pulled over because on officer already suspects you're under the influence of something, whether if it's legal or not, their goal is to arrest you for whatever is in your system.

Even if it's something as innocent as blood pressure medication, people get arrest for driving under the influence of a substance for their own meds all the time. It's unlikely you will get convicted for it, but it rarely stops the cops from making the arrest anyways.

So, don't answer any questions and invoke your fifth amendment right to remain silent. Be respectful and properly identify yourself and hopefully the cop will allow you to move on with your day.

Just be quiet, refuse to answer any questions not to do with the stop, refuse consent to search your vehicle, and keep asking if you are free to go.

Excellent point. I have already seen where cops have claimed that people who admit to being diabetes are not allowed to drive!!!! No shit.

"Any medical issues?" "Nothing serious, had a sore throat and took a cough drop." "Step out of the car."

Asking medical information has nothing to do with a traffic stop.

When the police officer asked me if I was on any type of medication, so if I had anything to drink, I just told him that information is not available to you under protection of medical laws in the state of Texas

It seems like the entire policing strategy in the US is dishonest. Using any tactic to chalk up another charge.

Asking for information about my medical conditions could be a HIPAA violation.

Never discuss your medical conditions with them. They will drill down on anything you say. Remember, they are law enforcement officers who barely know the laws they are to enforce. They are certainly not licensed medical professionals.

Have a friend who had it done to them. Cop knew it was going to die in court... but he also knew knew the process can be the punishment. Handcuffed and put in the car Car towed to the impound lot Released from jail Pay to and impound fees Time off work to go to court for charges to be dropped

I don't have to talk to cops, I have the Attorney Shield app, but even if I didn't, medical records are protected under federal privacy laws, so unless you're my doctor, and we have an appointment, I'm not discussing medical issues with you.

All drivers training courses should have to explain to students that it is their right to remain silent and it is in their best interest to do so. They should also be taught that caps are allowed to lie and that they do every time they open their mouth.
