The switch up from ā€Houseā€ to ā€œHomeā€ to sound more relatable was so realistic I recoiled in disgust lol.

The worst part - that money for those homes almost exclusively came from the federal reserve money printer, meaning not only do you miss out on a home, but you are paying for the privilege of being homeless with higher inflation

Dissolve these companies. Make corporate single family home ownership illegal. Redistribute these houses by letting first time home buyers get better rates without down payments.

Institutional investors also discovered that itā€™s more profitable to leave rental property empty than to lower rent. So there is a lot of empty rental property in the U.S., and a lot of people without a home. And because they are institutional landlords, they donā€™t have to worry about refusing would-be renters face to face where they might feel empathy. They let an impersonal algorithm deliver the bad news, and if thereā€™s a person involved he or she has no authority to lower the rent.

They didn't even HAVE the money to buy those houses! The banks (through the federal reserve) said "sure we'll poof some money into existence and give it to you". AND, that money was intended to be used for actual investments into building up the economy... not this scheme of buying houses.

And remember, they can make money doing this because zoning laws prevent anyone from easily building new things! Artificial scarcity, yay!

What part of " you will own nothing and be happy" did you not understand?

That last bit of the revenue from shares going right back to the company in rent really does explain all the Finance Brosā„¢ļø.

While itā€™s funny and accurate, as someone trying to buy a home, save for childrenā€™s future, save for retirement, this crippling my spirit combined with the job market. I hope and pray for everyone. Because at this point I really donā€™t know what to do. How much ever I try, seems like I a canā€™t win.

1. Housing prices increased out of reach of middle/low income workers resulting in less people buying 2. Institutions have the money needed, the seller doesnt care who buys it so happy transaction 3. Institution lists for rent to the same middle/low class that wouldve loved to buy it had housing not forcefully been raised out of reach 4. The renter gets stuck financially having all their rent money thrown away instead of increasing their net worth if they were paying a mortgage. 5. Rinse and repeat. Sickening. Anyone working full time should be able to buy their own home. Every job matters.

Donā€™t forget, they get to collect a bunch of extra money each month for HOA fees operated by corporations owned by the same places

If you watching this, there's a good chance you'll never own a house, ever. But hey, wasn't the saying"We want our parents and grandparents to have a better life than we going to have," or do I getting something backwards here?!

I've been getting paper spam ads for companies offering to buy my home and rent it back to me. I'm serious they're saying why don't you sell us your home and pay us more rent than your mortgage that they can kick me out of at any time
