If you find the advice useful, I hope we can br friends by you following me here! 3 THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT JOB SEARCH AS A 20+ YEAR COACHING VETERAN 1) Job search starts and ends with your brand. too many people throw together a resume and a LinkedIn profile without first taking a step back to understand what their brand is. The result are tools that have way too much information on there and that don’t sell you correctly. This is why you’re getting ignored by recruiters and hiring managers. 2) Nobody is special, but every job seeker is unique. You are up against people who often times have the exact same skills or level of experience as you. But it doesn’t mean you’re all the same. You have to figure out exactly what makes you unique and particulate that to stand out. We call that your UVA and it stands for your unique value add. Once you unlock this with a little self assessment, you are able to create a job search strategy that showcases you in a way that will attract the attention of hiring managers and recruiters much faster. 3) Just applying online is a waste of time. Everybody is using the same pathway to get to an employer. They are applying online. That’s because that’s what the recruiters and hiring managers tell you you should do. But the real truth is the people getting hired aren’t doing that. They are going around the online tracking system and learning alternative pathways to get directly to the hiring manager so that they can convey their brand to them. When you connect with them and share your brand, you will get yourself pulled from the pile and land an intrrview. This is happening every single day, but the majority of jobseekers are not doing it.
