Adding to the conversation. Is there a method for accelerating the drying time after you've completed the painting.?. I have washed down a painting with Gamsol to help accelerate drying after it was touch dry. Only in an extreme situation. Are there any other useful tips for accelerating drying time with a completed oil painting?

This is the reason why I moved from acrylic put the base layer wait go back and you have better timing to get things working it's better but it cost more

Working to short deadlines doesn’t fit with slow drying so it’s generally Liquin or Alkyd oils for me.

I would think that adding products to shorten the drying time would mean potential issues with causing your painting to crack, turn yellow, or otherwise age poorly, so you would have to know exactly what the product in question does and what its long-term effects are. Painting, especially oil painting, has always been as much about chemistry as artwork! I would love to take an entire course on pigments and the chemistry of painting.

I like the slow drying time. However, I have a painting I did several years ago and it has a problem that I didn't know how to correct at the time. Can I correct the problem now and if so, how?
