This technique, popular in the 80s, helps to harmonise a mix.

Start by adding a quick reverb plate to your mix bus.

Next, apply an equaliser to cut the top and bottom off the reverb, leaving only the mid frequencies processed.

This approach maintains a tight low end and less splashy tops, while making the mids sound lively and unified.

While I prefer using the Valhalla reverb, any other will do.

The voice breaking right in the middle of the word disjointed is pure poetry

I closed my eyes for the first few listen throughs and immediately I could tell the difference from after to before but not before to after. After -> Before was jarring and before sounded worse. Before -> After was subtle but after the 10th -12th time through became much more obvious. This technique helps create part of “that sound” that the pros have.

I've always love using a master reverb... tiny adjustments and you give the mix a space it lives in... a room within the listeners room... again a very very small amount and not across the entire frequency... I often to two, one on the highs and one on the mids... and just a tiny tiny bit... I find this then a good way to define the sound a of album

Streaky, has pop music generally become brighter, compared to masters from 20 years ago for example?

I feel like it brings out the synth more than the lead vocal, or maybe the synth is lead.
