It’s crazy how many performers neglect fine details from one of the world’s greatest. The whole video (and performance) is really great to listen to and learn from, btw. Kit Armstrong’s work is underrated and sorely under-appreciated.

It's very important to understand that the pianos of Liszt's era were vastly different from ours in terms of resonance and sustain power. We have to take this into consideration when looking at his pedal markings.

Kit Armstrong is a fabulous Liszt interpreter. His Two Episodes from Lenau's Faust are perhaps my favorite on record.

I'm not quite sure what point you are making. You mention how the pedalling Liszt marked is so different from the way many play this, with almost no pedal at all. But I don't find it clear whether you are agreeing with Liszt's pedalling or not.
