About me (bio) :
Website :
www.florentfarges.com/

I am an artist living and working in France. I learned the techniques of the Atelier of the Nineteenth century and now I try to share some of my knowledge with the rest of the world, because I think that beauty still has an important role to play in artistic creation. Thank you a ton. Your message motivates me a lot. I'm struggling with anxiety and frustrations with my paintings, at a point everything I paint looks a mess

I think one important thing to realise is that there's no way to make art "properly". It can be easy to think "well I like my art, I'm happy with my work but I feel inadequate because I don't do things 'properly' like a 'real artist' should and I feel like everyone can tell". There is no proper way. There's a limited amount of rules you shouldn't break but none of them are about the actual artistic process. The only things imo you shouldn't break are rules of professionalism. There are no rules of creativity. If you achieved art that you like then you have done your job "properly", end off. No buts. No discussion. It doesn't matter if you follow the exact right perspective or you feel like your composition is "against the rules". You made something you are happy with and that's all you need. And if someone likes your art they won't look at it and go "well but it doesn't follow the rules of thirds so clearly this isn't made by a professional artist, now I hate it"
