I find that the stereo image sounds more open when not using the stereo link, as the left and right channels operate independently.
However, this approach can sometimes make the mix sound looser.
If I want to tighten the mix, like with an SSL compressor, then I’ll use the stereo link. This tends to make the sound more together, and have that finished record sound.
What about you? Do you prefer having the stereo link on or off?
