I am an IT consultant and this is so true. Last 1.5 years companies started holding off projects due to slowdown of the economy and interest rate rises. But now AI is the new salesman.

The buzz around "AI" is all about LLM tech. It's neat and all, but it's basically just a UI layer. We already had assistant apps on our phones and computers, and chatbots on websites and apps. This thing is basically a better version of that. The rest of ML/AI is already incorporated into most businesses ERP, CRM, and other enterprise applications. It's just in the backend doing work like predicting inventory demand, sales projections, a bunch of financial stuff, etc.
Chat that can understand people better and summarize documents or generate generic text is cool and all, but...
It'll make it easier for managing businesses since you won't need a custom application when you have a question about your data that your enterprise systems don't provide. Right now you have to pay someone to write code for that stuff. One day, they'll figure out how to teach the LLM to say "I don't know" instead of just making things up, but thats hard because the tech is basically just making everything up. It doesn't understand anything, and doesn't know what it doesn't know. 🤷♂️
