This is something someone says when they have never had to test this theroy and only read/been told this tested and thia might be true in large cities but not in smaller towns was late for work a few times because I didn't hit the crosswalk signal

in Tyler, Texas (early 70s) the crosswalk buttons at Vine Avenue and Rusk Street, worked mostly (from what I remember)..Mom was there to watch us cross over on way to and from school..all is long gone
