Instant death is the best kind of mercy anyone could get in the 40k universe

That was such a respectable move from a plague marine

Vorx has good left in him. At least a piece substantial enough to still respect his enemies.

He even gently laid Xydias down so as not to mangle his body anymore, and he kept his word by throwing a melta bomb into the gene vault. Nothing was takan, nothing was defiled, it was all just destroyed. Then he and the death guard shut down a Word Bearers sacrificial ceremony by having turned a bunch of people into zombies before they were sacrificed. Lord of silence is the only 40k book I've read completely

Siege Master Vorx has been fighting for so long, for him, the destruction of the White Consuls fief world and their chapter entire was just a political move to sate his warbands bloodlust, rid himself of “questionable elements”, and even screw over a warband of Word Bearers. For Vorx, it was merely Tuesday

I honestly appreciate this kind of chaos marine. Usually it’s lightly corrupted ones that show this, but it’s good to see a heavily done over Nurgle son offer simple death and oblivion. Pushing his gods agenda, without needlessly going overboard for favour. Shows that some damned sons are still warriors before lunatics, no matter how lost they are.

Vorx is one of my favorite characters in all of warhammer

To be honest whenever a heretic show some kind of respect or sympathy it sometimes very sad that those once noble warriors were turned

Abbadon giving Sigi corpse back and sword all without taint is great too

That is one thing I like about the Death Guard, the only one that wanted to be stinky was Typhus so most of them aren't like the degenerates in the other legions that fell as a group.

Vorx was probably one of the nicest Chaos marines they've ever written about. He even valued the lives of cultists and remarked on how inhumane the Imperium had become.

>Gets attacked. >Monologues about he'll be nice to their corpses. >Kills the other guy instantly. Peak 40k kindness

Remember, the Death Guard had slavery to Nurgle forced upon them. They were never the traitors the Sons of Horus or the Iron Warriors were so this make sense

Xydias making a heroic last stand and charging as Vorx calmly states his last rites before immediately executing him is profoundly haunting. In death you will be respected, remembered, immortal.

Even after succumbing to Chaos Vorx still has the honor of a Warrior in him

Deathguard not bringing people into Nurgles embrace is honestly the coolest thing ever.

This is doubley respectful because it goes against his beliefs as a plague marine, to him, eternity as a walking corpse for nurgle IS kindness. This is him showing respect not just for him as a warrior, but his religion as well.

Reminds me of that one Plague Knight from the Plague Garden novel who helped a stormcast by lunging at a daemon/another chaos warrior (my memory is not the best) because he saw his actions as dishonorable. Kinda makes me wish we had more personal stuff like this instead of boring undying loyalty to the gods.
