I remember reading this convo, it was heartbreaking. Knowing the lengths the world eaters went to just to try and bond with their dad, and knowing that if he wasnât so broken and damaged himself that he canât feel anything heâd be devastated over that.

Everyone always talks about how big E mistreated Angron, but never about what a failure of a father he was to his own legion. Angron took after the worst of the Emperor, the bad father aspect.

The World Eater's Legion as a whole is an exercise in Tragedy. Their father was broken by his homeworld, his grift robbed of him by technology too advanced for their people and too twisted and cruel for the Emperor to Fix without just killing Angron. And then The Emperor, seeing one of his tools broken, callouslly ripped Angron from a life he chose. Because while Angron would have rather died with his brothers and sisters, the Emperor needed a Hammer. And refused to do what is the most reasonable course of action when faced with such a reality. And then the World Eaters would beaten, abused, killed, mocked, and pushed to the brink. And yet still they tried to love him. They tried to understand him, tried to find that sense of Comradery and fellowship with their father. So much that they sacrficed the soul of their legion to try.
And in the end, it did nothing for them. Except reduce them to vicious, heartless, bloodsoaked berserkers who rampage their way through any battlefield to serve a god who cares as much for them as theri Gene Father, whom is now exactly that he never wished to be. All because one of his brothers cared too much for him, and not enough for his wishes.

Mago Captain of the 18th company died a loyalist, not needing to be alive to be correct/vindicated failed rebellion knowing what the Nails and Angron would do to the Legion from Honorable War Hounds to Traitor World eaters. Mago refused decimation (1-10 marines to die for failing to take a planet in 1 day/24 hours)died for his brothers and for the Imperium
