I bought a 1916-D, in AG condition for 350$ and ten years later sold it for over 750$! I should have bought the West Point Proofs from the mint!

I actually bought a 1943-P Mercury dime from them on whatnot and it’s one of my favorite coins because of how shiny it is with nice cartwheels in all the right spots. I got it for around $8. You can get some good deals from them there.

You can cherry pick some nice ones mix in the junk dimes and pay less than 2 dollars.

I feel like a lot of them are bought at melt or close to it and then Cherry Picked to be put in the case add a much higher premium

As a cashier long ago a elderly gentleman played with change from old coin wallet he thought he paid with old dimes I thought so as well but they were zinc pennies. So I paid the 36 cents and kept the 4 zinc pennies in case he'd come back.

I completely agree. I’ve always thought mercury dimes was one of the coolest designs. I know they did a palladium one ounce design in 2023. I really really hope they do a gold version some day. 😍

Mercury dimes are my favorite looking coin. I had to buy the 1/10 ounce gold 100th anniversary.

I like dimes. My reason stack small partial amounts of silver and history

I just got some change the other day and got a 1941D mercury a 1969 the same time. It was about a year ago I picked up a 1807 half dime I couldn’t believe it. Out of the same little country store?

I love the Mercury dime. I have the 2016 gold one slabbed, I have MS67 slabs, but I also have a half dozen MS-grade examples and another half dozen BU or really good AU, then I have tubes of junk Mercury dimes, but I do love collecting them. I have a few seated dimes, and o have a couple deep camp proof Roosevelt dimes just in case, but Mercuries are the most beautiful. I adore walking half dollars as well, but I am shocked at how Franklins have been appreciating in price. I never expected that. I am trying to accumulate some nice walkers, but I thought to buy some cheap deep camp proof Franklins, and I was shocked to find out that they do not exist. What kills me are standing Liberty quarters. Those are just so expensive in uncirculated condition.

The reverse of the Mercury dime features a fasces, which became the symbol of Mussolini`s Fascists. In the 1920s, Italy issued a 5 lira coin that depicted an eagle with spread wings perched on a fasces. That apparently served as a model, minus the axe, for the reverse of the Washington quarter, which came out in 1932.

Instead of "not terribly expensive" go with something terribly cheap.
