It's actually unclear how the egg ends up in the fallopian tube. Some say the eggs fall into the cavum Douglasi and get skooped up from there by the fallopian tubes moving around in the abdomen and the method you described. It's pretty interesting that we still don't know how something so basic as reproduction fully works.

My sister had an ectopic pregnancy. It was really freaking scary. She needed a lot of blood draws for monitoring and transfusions so she wouldn't bleed out. It got to a point where they were running out of veins to use, and I swear she told me they started going between her toes to find clean veins. That sounds insane to me. Thankfully, she survived, and went on to have a healthy son... from a different pregnancy, obviously. Don't believe the anti-choice nutjobs who think an ectopic pregnancy can be transferred into the womb and survive.

Even worse is that sometimes the feritilized egg can accidentally start traveling to the wrong direction and go out of the fallopian tube and just hang out in the abdominal area for a bit and die (i'm pretty sure it's because it's not getting enough energy to keep duplicating, could be wrong tho)
Edit:
So the egg can just attach to organs and start growing there, not good. I'll put this on my list of many things that my human biology course simplified

Damn, the doctor has joined the ZackDFilms school of branding random body parts in his clips.
