My eggs are super clean. If you keep the nests clean and avoid chicken sleeping in there, the eggs will be clean.

I have some questions:
How often do you clean the run?
Does the sand ever get clumped and hardened?
How long do those mats last in the nesting boxes?
What are they made of?
Are they okay to put in a compost pile?

I don’t recommend using that type of sand , it contains Silica and it is harmful for chickens as well as humans.
River sand is the best sand to use in chicken coops as well as sand boxes.
On another note children’s sand boxes should be covered when not in use, to prevent animals from defecating in them , especially Raccoons, for their feces is especially dangerous for humans and any animals that may come in contact with it , for their feces contain roundworm eggs.

I’ve been accused of washing my eggs before posting pics of them😂I have higher roosting bars, sand in the chicken coops and dust baths and heathy chickens. I rarely have ever had to wash an egg in 10years
