I love your work u do and knowledge u have! I learn so much from your videos. Thank you!!
What books would u recommend to learn about building styles and techniques through the decades? Craftsman and Victorian are my favorite styles but love to learn about building techniques, mainly throughout US history.
I currently have my least favorite style (a ā79 ranch) and want to add some character to the outside. Garage sticks out front and house goes out to the left. The shape of an L. Boring and quickly built.
Is it even possible to build an old craftsman style or farmhouse today that will look like itās 100yrs old? Or will it look new no matter what because the wood isnāt old growth, doesnāt have the age, wear and tear, etc.
I see people trying to make new houses look old by putting in antique pieces but I donāt see it ever really accomplish the goal of looking like an old house. āModern farmhouseā is an example of trying to look old but doesnāt really cut it.
I love old wood floors with the darker wood inset border going around the rooms (Iāve never seen in newer homes), millwork, pocket doors, butlerās pantry, inset cabinets, etc. those things just arenāt around anymore or have the same solid quality.

Classic and modern at the same time. Wow just incredible Brent. Whenever Iām doubting whether or not itās worth it to spend the extra time to do something that elevates my craftsmanship, I just see something like this and get motivated. Thanks man
