Turn this button off on your limiter when mastering 🎛️

It’s the true peak limiting button 🥴

It’s grabbing the transients and making your mix sound boring 🥱

Instead, use oversampling and turn your output down 0.5dB 👈🏻

This will stop intersample peaks or distortion happening 👍🏻

And you’ll have a louder more exciting sounding master 🔊

It took me a while to realize true-peak was really messing with the low end, in a bad way. Now I never use it and my final masters sound way better.

Nice! Always assumed True Peak was the way to go but am going to start doing this.

Yeah, not really. As far as i know Pro-L2 uses 8x Oversampling to aproximate true peak, so this is fairly redundant

I put it down to -1db as I've seen converting it to mp3 or when any using it in any video editor for making a video it will still cross 0db. I used to do -0.3db first, that didn't work, then -0.5db found that -1 pretty much always keeps it safe, no matter what you do with your file later on i.e convert to mp3 use it on video, youtube etc etc. Yes you lose 1db but thats not really a big deal.

every time he explains the L2 he sets a different outputlevel. Feel like we getting scammed

I’d love to see some blind tests. I reckon the difference is mostly psychological.

These don't really matter. Look at all the commercial releases. They're all clipping sometimes even over 1db.

Tdr limiter 6 has a much better peak limiter. And one of the best damn clippers I ever heard. Thing has an unlimited free trial too. The best things in life are free. The over sampling also obliterates this thing.

What, true peak is just oversampling. If you look through ITU-R bs 1770-4 it details how true peak is implemented, it literally is just oversampling. On some limiters the difference between oversampling and true peak doesn’t exist but some limiters oversample the sidechain of the limiter in order to get accurate readings without introducing any phase shift caused by the anti aliasing filter at nyquist. This is just wrong, there are no downsides to using true peak, if you turn it on and suddenly your limiter is working too hard, back it off slightly and you’ll be fine, you don’t need to rely on discrete under reads to get good masters

I usualy have to set a ceiling of -1 dbfs without true peak for Youlean loudness meter to detect no intersample peaks.

Great point about oversampling overall being the best (and subtlest) way to prevent inter-sample peaks, but surely true peak limiting is just an extra safety net with the same aim - you don't really want inter-sample peaks to be 'overshooting.' TPL and oversampling achieve the same thing, but I think the real issue is people over-relying on the true peak limiting because it's 'safe' and therefore pushing the limiter harder, which is squashing more of the life out of the track. Might be helpful to A/B them with the same amount of limiting applied, and see how they feel against each other.
