If you want to crochet at night, but don't want a light or lamp on, there's this book light called Gritin that you can have standing up somewhere or you can clip it to something...the light brightness and tone are both adjustable, and it's rechargeable (battery lasts a long time on a charge). I highly recommend it, my twin got it for me for Christmas and I've been in love with it since

I tried that squishy thing for my hook. Hard no. It seems like a good idea but it just didn't function as intended. I've never tried one of those yarn separate gadgets. I'm entirely too cheap. I've been using ziplock type bags for years. I find they work well, are easy to store, and very travel friendly 🙂

I love the Susan Bates cushions. There are two sizes, but they're made for larger hooks than the one you showed. I use the smaller one with hooks from 4- to 5-mm Susan Bates hooks, and the larger one with 5.5- and 6-mm hooks. Haven't tried them with any other sizes. I love those cushions; they are grippy and have a matte texture; they do not squish (but I don't know why a hook cushion should...) They make my beloved super-smooth vintage Silvalume and Quicksilver S Bates hooks usable again, now that I'm spoiled by other ergonomic hooks. I use a knife hold, and I only use in-line or hybrid hooks (Clover ergonomic and Tulip Etimo), no Boye-shaped or very tapered hooks.

I like to make sure when I buy hooks that they are metal with a built in grip and I prefer to buy in store so I can feel the grip to make sure I like it, this way they are sturdy and comfortable, I don’t even really see the point for the light. Ive had way too many plastic hooks or needles break when I’m in the middle of the project, it’s the worst with knitting needles because then you loose your stitches.

The light hook definitely! I bought them and used them with acrylic yarn. They gripped the yarn terribly 😢. The big yarn ball holder looks like the plastic would break if you dropped it on the floor - it would definitely fall off my couch at some stage
