What I Ate Traveling in Washington DC as a Breastfeeding Vegan Mom!

For breakfast I used the Happy Cow app to find the closest vegan spot to the White House, and I it led me to Fruitive. While I waited on my order, I browsed their vegan books. I ordered the antioxidant super berry bowl packed with nutrients that a a breastfeeding mom needs. And a delicious chocolate chip muffin because yum.

For a lunch spot, y’all recommended Hip City Veg, where I ordered a fudge brownie and vegan Philly Steak with grilled onions and mushrooms. Perfection.

For a dinner spot y’all recommended Sticky Rice. They have a vegan menu - I ordered the Dirty Vegan with tofu, noodles, and veggies in a peanut coconut sauce. Breastfeeding moms need at least 1,000 mg of calcium a day, and tofu is an excellent source of calcium.

Then for extra nutrients, I packed my postnatal vitamins, protein bars, and Bored Cow animal-free dairy milk. It’s real dairy but no animals are used or exploited to make it, which makes it vegan-friendly. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated so it’s easy to travel with and has 510 mg of calcium which which is great for this breastfeeding mama. #vegan #veganfood #travel
