Transient shapers boost in a different way from the way that the limiter is cutting βοΈ
A limiter is basically a compressor with an infinite ratio which pulls down everything in the mix ππ»
Hence, adding a transient shaper before a limiter will exaggerate the perceived dynamic range without actually increasing the dynamic range π
This is one of the major secrets of getting punchy drums without them being too dynamic ππ»

Doesn't this still increase the volume of the drums? Sure the limiter is 1:1 but that's just at its input, the transient designer is earlier in the effect chain and increases the level before it ever touches the limiter input. I would love clarification if I'm wrong about this.
