You're so generous Jonathan. I'm in awe of you. P100 for a coconut is quite expensive already. It's usually just about P30 to P50 including the chopping & the getting of the coconut meat but what you're doing is a very good deed indeed. Ayo-ayo, amping 💕

She does have a lovely voice! I think people from outside Palawan think the coconut was expensive but I think it’s reasonable. Growing up on that island, I don’t recall seeing people sell young coconut water at all. When I first lived in Manila in 2010, I was surprised to see people selling them on the streets of Makati. But it makes sense. It is much better for you than cola but it’s served open for you so there’s extra service involved. I’d say an unopened coconut should be P25, opening it should cost P50, carving the meat another P10. I’d dare anyone to open a coconut on their own and tell me if it’s easy. I’m willing to bet 50% would injure themselves, 90% would ask for someone else’s help.

Looks like the coconut meat is hard. That's expensive buko 100 Pesos, used to be 25 Pesos but that was 8 years ago when I went home for a vacation. I Love buko as well. Enjoy.

I used to drink buko every week before and the vendor taught me the word "malauog"= "ma-la-u-og". I always say I want a buko for drinking ( because it can be for buko salad and they will give you the one with hard meat). When I say that , the vendor will say " malauog"? So it seems to mean the one with a soft meat. It's so delicious that it's like jelly that you can slurped with the straw. But there are times it's hard to find one and they'll spend a few minutes knocking the Coconut determining the sounds if it's the right one.
