The first few years of the Squiers were astounding.
Japan made and actually better than US models at that time. I am partial to those 3 bolt large headstock models;
and they are very collectible, and sought out now.
After about 10 years of production, quality was dodgey, but there were still high points.
But it really all comes down to what you like. I can re-create a '54 strat just by using vintage wood in the construction. Among other things, its all down to nuance.
Its fun finding out how sublime, but also how insanely bad, things can be.

Surprisingly decent guitars for the money. I wish these guitars would have been an option for me in the 60βs and 70βs when I was learning. Choices back then for beginners were dime-store Tiesco or Sears Silvertone guitars. The other option was Fender or Gibson. Kids and most adults could not afford those.
