I love this idea! Pick your own sides with built-in learning moments! It's a good thing your teenager is a good kid, I could definitely see my older sister buying all of a coveted food and then trying to sell it to me at a higher price. 😂

One of my favorite memories as a kid was when my mom played restaurant with us! She would provide us with money and a menu, things that she could make that wouldn't take too long, some things we wouldn't normally get. We would order at the counter and she would serve us.
We were homeschooled and would normally make our own lunches, so it was a treat not too!

I absolutely love the balance between the days when we can use the meals for when you just don’t feel like it but have to feed the family, and the set up the kitchen like a store to make a game out of dinner. That’s very cool. Life is full of both of those type of moments and I’m sure everything in between.

Im a special needs teacher and I do a lot of symbolic play like this to help my students learn important life skills. Not only is it fun, but many kids learn better with hands-on/real life scenario lessons verses lecturing and worksheets. I also taught my own children important life skills the same way. We always have fun and its a great bonding experience.

The husband and kids are so lucky to have her in their lives they will remember this for the rest of their lives and the kids will grow up telling their children about the awesome things grandma did for them then you will be doing a repeat for the grand kids 🙂

My daughter's 2nd grade class gave them bee bux for doing good things then they could use those to buy special items, it taught them how to use money.
