Generally I agree with this, however not always. I got out of a really bad relationship, and almost immediately met a really nice girl. We became friends, but because of my previous relationship, I was very adamant that i wasnt ready for a relationship. Two years later, and we started Dating two weeks ago. Point is, context matters. In my scenario, I wasnt telling her that i wasnt ready for a relationship because i didnt want to date her. I was telling her that because it was true for anyone, not just her.
