I gave mine 5 minutes on a timer to find a mutually acceptable option before picking something I wanted. They're really good at it, so I never need to pick anymore, but they were able to negotiate fast and effectively within 4 months of using that approach

Your son got an action-packed thriller, your daughter got conflict resolution, and you got a soap opera! 😂

When my niece and nephew were small there would be a meltdown anytime I pick the others movie. So one day I couldn't handle the stress and I made the cat choose. They accepted it, no argument, no meltdown. After that passed away no other cat was accepted to pick the movies.

The Land Before Time is the best middle ground there. Vicious scary Dinosaurs and sweet family fun.

I've let my kids hash it out until it's too late several times. They slowly learned that arguments are a waste of time and that taking turns is much easier.😂

Hi, twin mom, from India here, I’ve been watching your content for a while as I love your humorous take on parenting along with the really helpful advice. So, thanks for all your videos. My solution to this particular struggle is odd and even days. Boy gets odd and girl gets even, also to regulate screen time we play games on school days and TV is only on weekends.

Husband and I settle this by watching an old cartoon or anime episode ahead of a movie. They used to do that sort of double feature at movie theaters commonly. Keeps the peace. Beyond that, we rotate what we watch because he prefers scifi and I prefer fantasy. ❤

Me and my siblings were coached in the art of finding a compromise during daily dinner debates someone always inevitably started in everything from science to politics, so arguments like that were always highly solution orientated 😂😂😂 We never had the typical "sibling fights" we judt debated each other. Not sure if it's a parenting strat I recommend as teaching your kids to use debate as a love language results in them using debate as a lovd language with strangers who think they are picking figh

My two siblings an I devised a complicated but effective method (two kids woth opisite tastes and myself 10 years older so I also had different tastes). Works best with an odd number of kids, and woth physical representation of a show(DVD cases worked for us us) Each kid picks 2 shows. Each kid can (but doesn't have to) pick 1 show they don't want to watch. Then we vote on a show, but you can't vote for your own.least votes is eliminated until you have your show. We started this when they were 5 and 7(I was 15), and it worked until they were teens and would just talk it out Complicated? Yes. Did it work? Yes.

I mean, those are two very good options. And now I have the sudden urge to watch Bluey and Jurassic Park.
