In this coin dealer video Adrian explains why silver coins get milk spots and how the Royal Canadian Mint was able to stop silver coins from developing milk spots. Milk spots are small white spots that can appear on silver coins. Silver coins get milk spots because of the detergent used in the cleaning process before the coins were annealed. The detergent is baked into the coins which later down the road causes milk spots. With the new Mint Shield technology from the RCM the new silver maple leaf coins do not get milk spots.

Topics I cover in this video: silver coins, silver, milk spots, milk spots on silver coins, silver coins milk spots, silver coin milk spot, silver coin milk spots, silver coins with milk spots, why does silver milk spot, why do silver coins milk spot, what are milk spots, what are milk spots on silver coins, silver maple leaf, silver maple leaf milk, silver maple leaf coin, silver maple leaf coins with milk spots, silver milk spot, silver coin, silver maple coin milk, milky silver coins, silver stacking, silver investing, silver bullion, silver bullion coins, silver coins with milk spots

I like the older maples because the milk spotting means itโ€™s less likely to be fake lol

I don't mind the milk spots, it's still an ounce of silver

Think of these milk spot coins this way: Theyโ€™re cheaper to buy (probably) AND you can be sure itโ€™s silver.

Maple Leafs are my favorite. I have 60 oz. Only buy them on sale. My average cost is great. They also have a good resale value

i love people online saying that they stack to hedge against inflation (silver is silver) yet they care about milk spotting

Not just older 1s.... they still come that way. I've got several 2023 tubes all spotted up. Their "shield" technology doesn't work

Gday from Australia really dig the show. Harryโ€™s coin shop is cool. These guys truly no their stuff. Especially when I seen that round 1966 Aussie 50 cent coin. On a mother episode. If you can try to purchase the 1938 crown itโ€™s 925 sterling but only 100,000 made the 1939 Crown they made well over a million. But the 38 in good nick can fetch a pretty penny. Cheers best of luck.๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‘

no offense to anyone who is a collector, but milk spots are literally an irrelevance to our stacking game here. If I can buy something cheaper thats the same 999 fine silver ounce because its ugly, sign me up lol

Years ago I bought a tube of new Maples. I put away the tube in a temperature controlled environment. Opened it up a few weeks ago and saw that they are all milk-spotted. UGH! Really awful looking.
