I have been in Africa three times to see my husband. The women over there work selling wares or other jobs to support their home. Many times, the man cannot find work.

The real problem is rather that traditional muslims understand by obedience that as soon as the husband demands something, it is like it comes from god and if she doesn't do it, it's a sin. That's the real problem and for me close to shirk and i'm sure, not what Allah really meant

There is a problem with this, though. In the West, men and women usually decide together many issues, especially monetary ones. I've seen Muslim men making decisions without talking to their wives which greatly upset them. In one case the wife worked and contributed towards the family. Her husband made a decision and she was so upset she left the husband. They only reconciled when her brother stepped in and caused his own wife to be very upset as he had not talked about it with his wife. This left her deeply unhappy. My advice is both partners are equal and any decision needs consent from both of them.

In the Bible, it is the husbandās responsibility to provide for the home. The woman takes care of the home. Women are more emotional than men, and I am at the head of the line in this respect. However, I think women are and can be very rational too. Women have taken care of households. This is due to their husbands leaving them, and sometimes the husband dies and she is left alone with her children and the responsibility of running a home. In my case, I support two households by myself. My husband is Muslim. He is not working due to the situation in Africa. He is waiting for his papers to come home, so I send him money for food and housing. We always talk things over and come to an agreement in everything. There is always respect between us. There are men also who take care of the house and children and the wife works outside of the home because she is able to make more money. A woman can be rational too.

Women and men should be equal in a marriage, regardless of religion. The husband is traditionally the probider for the family however in this day and age both are responsible for the running of the home and child care .

Don't worry about the haters sister. We are the umma of The Seal of The Prophets pbuh, meanwhile they are followers of the iblis. We have nothing to be afraid of or ashamed. We are more beloved to Allah than them and that is all that matters. They can hate all they want. The truthful will eventually find themselves at the doorsteps of Islam.

Always contradictions in Islam. Khadijah was a wealthy business woman and could maintain the household financially. Not all women are the same. Do not confine their capabilities to this role or that role. Husband and wife working together to achieve the best for the family is the way forward.
