I remember reading some statistic that placed people on the political spectrum and turns out most people hover only slightly from the center. I’m not sure if this is the case atm because partisanship on both sides is getting too extreme but I remember thinking at the time that the ebb and flow from the center was the most American thing ever because without it a democracy based on two parties really wouldn’t work; you need common ground for us to be able to sit at the negotiating table and see eye-to-eye when making plans together. You can’t compromise if both sides see each other as existential threats.

This is just an argument to moderation fallacy. This position offers nothing except unconditional surrender to both sides bad ideas while offering no actual solutions to the nuance of each position and whether or not something is actually good for humanity as a whole or not. It's the equivalent to being distracted and missing the bigger picture.
