My uncle once told me. “You know your daddy is a baaaaaad man. I was up at the 402 (a little hole in the wall bar) and this dude stepped on his shoes . . . Boooooyy, your daddy got up, beat him down in front of everybody, then sat back down and finished his drink.”
This was in the late 70s - easily 80s, waaaaaaaay before Buggin’ Out got his Js scuffed.

Funny how they talk about them bein from the South. Its so true! I got my softer nature from my Mom (city girl)but my toughness and tomboyism from my stepMom. (Country all the way)She was raised in Oklahoma & Texas. This woman picked cotton bak in the 50's/60's. Always had colorful stories to tell or scare us to act right. She cud be violent tho. Drank a lot like my father un4tun8ly, & had a helluva temper. I never crossed her & she was even handed with discipline. Mainly long stints of restriction. Id usually get let off early for good behavior. Used a switch a few xz tho. I be-haved afterwrds. She shot one of her husbands then drove him to hospital-confirmed story by rellies. When her sister-in-law was gonna beat her nephew she harbored him & them wolloped my step aunt upside the head with 1 of my Dad's golf clubs. Early 70s. I dont recall police coming or my stepmom going to jail. Whooeee my dad was respectful to her (& he surely wasnt to his ex wives) "Fear of God" effect
