Your approach was creepy once you asked if you can film them. There are some straight guys that are straight creeps out there. Once they found out you're gay they knew that you didn't pose a threat because you would not want to sexually harass them or worse

Telling someone you like their outfit and complimenting them is very different to asking if you can video their outfit.
If someone complimented my outfit I'd be happy, but if I was asked if someone could video my outfit I would assume there was something wrong with it and they were making fun of me.

Still creepy and manipulative. Most girls just don't want to be shamelessly hit on. Gay or not most people don't like strangers taking photos of them. If you aproach someone nicely they might consent to it but again ots still kinda creepy.
