It kind of felt like a cop-out.

Dainsleif pop ups always leads to tears.
This time it was a whole plethora of melancholy:
- Our sadly āforgettableā bittersweet reunion with the abyss sibling
-Poor Dainsleif having to fight his really close ex friend that has turned into his enemy
- The bleak hopelessness of someone being in love with and forever waiting for a fabricated memory
- Singing lullabies to somehow ease the pain of every Hilichurl (that we massacre on a daily basis)
- Cariberts whole existence. (Those Albericht genes really makes your life harderā¦)

Honestly I'm more pissed about this part of the story than sad that all that would be forgotten. Like yeah why not remove probably the ONE obvious thing that would motivate the Traveler to continue and finish their journey.
