I had to let go of RC when my child reached middle school and still hadn’t memorized the facts, was doing copywork and was reading at a 2nd 3rd grade level. I had to sit beside my child daily to assist so it wasnt independent for me, i got tired and moved to something else and i was sad about it but glad it’s finally working.

Hi Karen! I’ve been searching through your videos for a book you recommended that has something like 95% of the words we use in English. I think you mentioned your daughter using it for spelling help with her essays, but I can’t find the video or the book. Do you happen to know what book I’m talking about?

I have seen the benefits of RC and want to only do mainly the 3Rs with other bits done loosely in the afternoons but even my 5 year old is expected to do 6 key learning areas. One of them is arts which we do bits of art and music for but our latest inspector even wants us doing drama! I'm schooling 7 this year! (We're in Australia)

After transitioning my kids from a Christian school and seeing how comprehensive and in depth Abeka and Bob Jones curricula are, I definitely struggle with feeling like RC is not enough. But at the same time I love how I don't have to sit next to my kids and teach them everything! I love how they can do RC mostly on their own once they are fluent readers and writers! But I still doubt when I see other curricula or what other moms are doing. I actually came to your youtube channel, Karen, to find a video that reminds me that RC is enough, and I found this one! Thanks!
