The Ottoman Empire had no choice. If Germany lost and was sidelined there would be nobody to protect it from Russian desires on Constantinople. Britain and France had done so in the past but given the state the empire was in there was no guarantee that they'd do so again. Plus the Ottoman Empire could've gotten back some of its territories and slowed down or maybe even stop their decline if they had won.
