I would really recommend green, unsmoked brazilian yerba with no dust for a beginner. Everything else I've tried so far is a lot harder to get used to. A matter of preference, of course. :)

I live in a city in Brazil which is recognized by it's production of Yerba Matte, or just Erva Mate, for the most intimates ones. My city had one of the biggest productions ever and probably still plays a big role in it.
Also, i recommend you to taste "Tererê" or which is a cold different Yerba Matte with lemon juice.

After trying the one that came in the kit I got canarias and personally I add a half teaspoon sugar on the first couple steeps and then nothing for the rest of the time. I’m just glad I don’t drink monster anymore
