Glioblastoma is the grim reaper of brain tumors with barely a 5% survival rate after 5 years. What they did is nothing short of incredible.

I read about this treatment when my 7 year old nephew was in the last stages of brain cancer 11 years ago, Iā€™m glad to see itā€™s finally in its last stages of research. Hopefully the treatment will be available for those with brain cancer soon.

My father is diagnosed with this cancer. He got a surgery to remove the tumor a few days back. The doctors removed the surrounding tissues also to be extra safe. Hope that never comes back and the treatment for it becomes available to all soon!

Dr. Karan, you probably won't see this, and even if you do it's very specific, but it's worth a shot. I got this short in my description just after reading that my mom's failed bone marrow tap may mean that her essential thrombocythemia has very likely developed into leukemia. There is no information about it anywhere except this one research paper that states that a failed bone marrow tap is a major red flag, indicating significant bone marrow pathologies. Can the ET be considered as a possible pathology? Or has it really developed into myelofibrosis or leukemia? My country is not yet advanced enough in medicine so I have no one to ask. Even the doctor who performed the procedure didn't know why it happened, it failed twice in a row and she said this has never happened before in her career. She didn't even schedule a new bone marrow tap for my mom and this scares me. I'll be convincing my mom to schedule a new tap herself but the wait time can be up to 2 months, and I'm scared out of my mind.

Thatā€™s brave of him. Even knowing one is suffering from an incurable disease, not everyone has the courage to try something that may result in death. I hope he lives a happy and healthy life and his case shows a way to find a cure for cancer in near future.

As someone who lost a family friend to glioblastoma, this is bittersweet. So glad someone managed to survive, yet frustrated he was never given this treatment.

As a computer programmer, i understand. It's amazing what you can do sometimes, as long as it only needs to work once, on your own system. I want to see more opportunities for docs to self experiment with terminal illnesses. It could really advance the science a lot.

My dad only lasted 3 months and seeing him becoming helpless like a baby was one of the most painful experiences I have had. I hope they can get this stuff for everyone so no one has to suffer from it again.
