I've been on this mindless path for 12 years. I don't recommend, it was hard to break from, but I'm managing it now. You're correct about the autopilot form of life of nowadays. But i would recommend the book The Scent of Time of Byung-Chul Han. He explain how todays society actually is lacking of MEANING, not necessarily purpose. We are not able anymore to see meaning in the processes of life. One can live without a purpose, just working and taking care of his beloved ones, but he has at least to percieve the meaning of his daily activities for himself and the ones om his responsability. Thats a meaning crisis, not a purpose. Han explain this way better in the book.

Ok, I'm exactly at this point, eg, that my journey so far has been the "map handed to me", which I very convincingly believed to be the way for me, who I am. Now, I'm questioning everything, and I struggle to figure out which of these is truly me, and which is "maps" given. A part of me then reasons I need to figure out who am I (and not what was projected on me). Which then leads to: how do I figure out which parts of me is truly me, who am I?

Am I the only one who doesn’t believe in purpose? I don’t think you need one. Personally, I live my life doing what I want and that is enough. For now, I want to build my business and educate myself. I know in some time, I’ll forget that and want to be a father more than anything. Purpose changes. Don’t pressure yourself into finding THE thing.
